La Plaza de Los Leones and Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation Partnership

La Plaza de Los Leones and Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation (PHEF) have entered into a partnership this year.  Under the terms of the agreement, La Plaza will continue to raise funds for scholarships in its usual manner, will select scholarship recipients from applications submitted by Huerfano County students, and will award these scholarships in the Plaza name through PHEF.

The benefits to La Plaza and to Huerfano County scholarships recipients include:

~ By awarding scholarships through PHEF, scholarship awards will be matched as long as the student attends any one of fourteen in-state institutions.  A $500 scholarship will become $1000 and a $1000 scholarship becomes $2000.

~ La Plaza de Los Leones will receive quarterly reports on the academic progress being made by each scholarship recipient.

~ Should the student experience difficulties with certain classes and/or subject matter, tutoring will be made available.

~ After the initial year, students may apply directly to PHEF for continuing education scholarships.

~ La Plaza de Los Leones and PHEF agree to support each other in fund raising activities.

La Plaza membership sees this partnership as a way to better serve Huerfano County graduates and to help students succeed through their academic experience.
