...Creating Tomorrow's Leaders, Today...
On April 28, 2009 La Plaza de los Leones, Inc. authorized the formation of La Plaza de Los Leones Youth Auxiliary. The Youth Auxiliary is self-directed with its own officers. The first meeting was held on May 6, 2009 with 25 eighth thru twelfth graders in attendance. The students learned about the history of La Plaza de Los Leones, the organization's by-laws and its mission as an all-volunteer, non-profit, community based organization dedicated to promoting Hispanic cultural awareness and to assisting in the recruitment, admission, and finances of qualified and deserving Huerfano County students to institutions of higher learning.
The Youth Auxiliary consists of Huerfano County students ranging from 8th grade thru 12th grade. Their main goal will be to have fun while raising funds by focusing on putting on activites geared towards their high school aged peers. The group's first act was to elect officers including a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and historian; the same as its parent group. Also, several fundraising activities were planned.

The Youth Auxiliary has expressed a great deal of enthusiasm and excitement in this endeavor. Please consider helping Huerfano County youth achieve their dreams!
